Karnataka – Strengthening Coastal Resilience and the Economy

Learn MoreWith a view to strengthen the economy and resilience of the coastal region of Karnataka, addressing factors such as environmental development of coastal areas, plastic pollution control, and livelihood improvement of coastal people, the K-SHORE (Karnataka Strengthening Coastal Resilience and the Economy) project is being implemented over the next five years in the three coastal districts of Uttar Kannada, Dakshina Kannada & Udupi. The funding is to be borne 70% by the World Bank and 30% by the Government of Karnataka.
To establish Karnataka as India's leading coastal state by integrating environmental stewardship, climate resilience, sustainable infrastructure, marine conservation, and inclusive economic growth through a coordinated whole-of-government approach. K-SHORE will serve as the common platform for convergence among the Forest, Fisheries, Tourism, Rural Development, Urban Development, Panchayat Raj, Ports, Revenue, Disaster Management, Pollution Control, and other allied departments to create resilient coastal ecosystems, prosperous communities, and a globally competitive blue economy.
